I have to admit to a secret obsession - Steampunk! I have a fascination for all things steampunk and it is gradually growing, fed by some of the great books I've discovered almost by accident.
The latest to be added to my TBR pile is Valeria, a Lyrical Press Steampunk Romance by Kaitlin R Branch. It comes out November 5th and I've invited Kaitlin along to tell all...
I can't even tell you how excited I am for this book to come out! You see, Valeria wasn't what I expected to be my first published work. When I entered it in the 'How Lyrical is Your Romance' contest, I figured it would be read and passed over because of it's short length (51 e-book pages, so you could conceivably read it in one sitting). Little did I know that Lyrical is all over that length, and though I didn't win the contest, when they offered me a contract for Valeria I was pretty much bouncing off of walls all week.
Now that I've finished celebrating the contract, edited the piece to within an inch of my life, and gotten the immense pleasure of seeing my name on my very first cover, I'm still excited, but this time for readers. I'm excited for you to meet the characters I've spent a good chunk of time with, and excited for you to see their story unfold.
Mache Harcming is an airfoil pilot having a bad day. Forced to make an emergency landing on an unmarked dirigible, he discovers a genius inventor, Valeria. She is beautiful, fascinating, and unlike any woman he has ever known before. She's also dangerous. Mache is certain if the CEO of her company, Elthgo Inc., discovers his prescence aboard her aircraft, he will die.
But Valeria begs him to stay. And stay he does, hiding in the vents of the airship whenever the CEO visits. How can he refuse such a beautiful woman? More importantly, how long will the ruse last before he's found out?
Kaitlin is from Omaha, Nebraska. She enjoys things such as running, dancing, singing, writing, and Patrick Stewart pontificating about the letter 'B'. Her first e-book, Valeria, comes out November 5th, 2012 from Lyrical Press. You can find her (and her husband) at www.kaitlinandmichaelbranch.com on facebook at "The Athele Series" or on twitter, @theatheleseries.
