I'm cheating a bit being here. I participated in 'The Next Big Thing' last year but time moves so fast in publishing it's time for 'Another Big Thing'.
SO WHAT IS THE 'NEXT (ANOTHER) BIG THING' BLOG HOP?
The idea is for me to answer ten questions about my latest book, and then tag other authors in order to continue the 'hop'.
I was tagged by Aurelia B Rowl this time. I'd love to show you a cover for my new book The Protea Boys but I haven't got it yet however I do know it will be brilliant because it is in the capable hands of the talented Mia Carter!
TEN QUESTIONS ABOUT... THE PROTEA BOYS.
1: Was The Protea Boys always the title of this book, even when it was a work in progress?
This book has always been The Protea Boys even before the pen hit the page for the first time.
2: Where did the idea come from for the book?
The idea - well there's quite a story in that ... Once upon a time in a previous incarnation I used to own a protea farm and my girlfriend also had a large property and nursery not far away. We'd often catch up on a friday night for dinner and one evening we were both lamenting the fact it was really difficult to get anyone to come and help with maintenance. As the evening wore on The Protea Boys were born. The product of some wishful thinking and perhaps a bottle of wine. This is where I add one of those disclaimers that says "This book is a work of fiction. The names characters places and incidents are products of the writer's imagination...." with a little bit of help from her friend and no it is not autobiographical!
3: What genre does your book fall under?
It is a contemporary, rural romance.
4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
A few unknowns! This is a work of fiction remember!
5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
When Georgie turns her back on her sophisticated lifestyle in Sydney to renovate her parents' old protea farm the last thing she expects is to clash with the man she employs to solve all her problems.
6: Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
The Protea Boys was contracted by Breathless Press and will be released on May 3rd 2013
7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
From the original idea to an actual manuscript I could submit - yearsI Once I put pen to paper a couple of months to write it and then I put it away, dragged it out, put it away again, rewrote a few scenes and finally did a bit of plot tweaking on the advice of my editor.
8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Pass on this one other than to say it is a rural romance.
9: Who/what inspired you to write this book?
That's easy - check the dedication when it's released! Aussie readers may recognise the inspiration for some of the landmarks and scenery in the book.
10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
If you have a girlfriend who sticks with you through thick and thin and has your best interests at heart this could be for you. It's certainly a story that will make you smile, roll your eyes, sit on the edge of your seat, and hopefully end up cheering for Georgie and Tom.
And that's about it!
If you like the sound of The Protea Boys you will be able to buy it on Amazon and the Breathless website from early May. If all else fails my website will tell you what is happening.

So what do you think?
I've been waiting so long for this! My first historical romance is about to become a reality...well I've got to wait until May 6th for release day but I've got the files, it's on the website and you can check it out! If there are any reviewers out there who would like to review Lily's Leap please let me know.
In the meantime don't forget Tree Change! I've had some great reviews and an average 4.5 star rating on Goodreads and it is still sitting in the top five of the Best New Author books. Thanks to everyone who has added it to their list, read it, rated it and voted. Feedback makes it all worthwhile.
