Devika Fernando tagged me in this new blog tour for authors, and it looks like fun. This is a spin-off of the Writing Process Blog Tour (my post for that can be found here). Basically, this is about introducing the writer who tagged you, answering a few questions about yourself and your writing, and tagging more authors to keep the train going. Here's Devika's post. Before I ramble about myself, here's a quick look at the effervescent author, Devika Fernando who tagged me:
Almost as soon as Devika Fernando could write, she imagined stories and poems. After finishing her education in Germany and returning to her roots in Sri Lanka, she got a chance to turn her passion into her profession. Having lived in Germany and in Sri Lanka with her husband has made her experience the best (and the worst) of two totally different worlds – something that influences her writing. Her trademark are sweet, yet deeply emotional romance stories where the characters actually fall in love instead of merely falling in lust. She draws inspiration from everyone and everything in life.
Besides being a romance novel author, she works as a self-employed German web content writer, as a translator, and as a faithful servant to all the cats, dogs, fish and birds in her home. What she loves most about being an author is the chance to create new worlds and send her protagonists on a journey full of ups and downs that will leave them changed. When she’s not writing, she’s reading or thinking about writing.

Q&A Session time for me!
1) If you were beginning your writing career today, what would you do differently?
That's easy! Something I still have to remind myself every day - be patient. Writing a book takes time. Not just writing the story, that's the easy part but finding the right way to publish your story. Since I signed my first contract three years ago so much has changed and there are so many options. Print, ebooks, traditional publishing, self-publishing, a series, a novella... I couldn't see beyond that first release day now I try and look ahead and plan.
2) What’s the one thing about you that might surprise readers?
I'm a recluse! I'm quite happy at home and often make excuses not to go out!
3) Tell us a little about your main character in your latest book.
Dolly, the heroine in my latest release JAZZ BABY, is a young woman who has spent all her life looking after others, her mother, her brother and her father. She decides it is time to stretch her wings - after all it is the 1920s - time for a girl to reach out and make her own way in the world, do what she wanted to do, go places she’d never been before, experience every sensation and so she heads for Sydney not expecting her past to catch up with her.
4) What are some of your favourites?
Colour - cobalt blue
Food - anything from the sea
Place - the Australian bush
Shameless self promotion...
Jazz Baby releases on October 22nd and you can grab a copy on iTunes for 99 cents pre-order!
