In Australia we have "rural romances", in the US they're called "Westerns" and my English friend Zara Stoneley writes hot romance and bonkbusters! Her latest novels, 'Stable Mates' and ‘Country Affairs’, are fun romps through the Cheshire countryside and combine some of her greatest loves - horses, dogs, hot men, strong women, champagne and fast cars! She's here to talk about her latest 'bonkbuster' (I love that word!) Country Affairs.
HORSES, DOGS AND A VILLAGE CALLED TIPPERMERE
I was brought up in the English countryside, and as a child had two obsessions – animals and writing. But it took a long time, and a lovely editor, to bring the two together in my Tippermere books.
My first pet dog as a child was a sheltie, he was pretty and intelligent, and my constant companion. I was without a dog during my time at University, but as soon as I graduated and bought my first (small) cottage I immediately half filled it with a Golden Retriever (gorgeous and gentle) and a Samoyed (vocal and lively) who were both with me for many years. My most recent canine companion was Darcey, a Jack Russell Terrier who could run around all day and was devoted to my son. She was with us for far too short a time, as she had leukemia, but she made a massive mark in our lives. Terriers are small in size, but massive in personality. Over here in the UK if you spot somebody with a horse, more often or not there is one or more JRT’s around, and that’s why I just had to have them in my Tippermere books.
On the horse front I’ve had many as an adult – to make up no doubt for the fact that as a child I wasn’t allowed a pony of my own! From a spirited Arab to a too-big-for-me three day eventing part-thoroughbred, with a Dales mare, and Welsh Section D cob in the mix as well, they’ve all been great fun and have taught me lots. I’ve had sweet, stubborn, breathtakingly beautiful, fiery, and fun ones, and I have to say I’ve loved them all. Which is why there’s a little bit of each and every one of them to be found in the horses of Tippermere.
And these horse and dogs, plus my love of a man who can make me laugh, is why Stable Mates, and Country Affairs are the stories that they are. Funny, sexy, at times scandalous, and with plenty of hot men and horses.

Welcome back to Tippermere for the wedding of the year…
Scatty but loveable Lottie Brinkley is famous throughout the village for her disorganised personality so when she steps up to plan the perfect wedding the only likely outcome is disaster.
And when her globetrotting, love cheat of an ex, Todd, literally crashes the wedding on a not-so-noble steed things definitely look set to take a turn for the scandalous! As rumours of why he’s back spread through the village quicker than the stable girl can drop her knickers, is Lottie's future with sexy eventer Rory Steel about to fall at the next fence?
With a wave of unexpected pregnancies, steamy shenanigans in the hay and a farrier with more than shoeing horses on his mind, will Lottie ever be ready to take on the coveted title of Lady of the Manor and restore the Estate to its former glory?
As the heart of the village, Tipping House Estate, makes its move into the 21st Century, pulses start to race in a novel packed full of charm, hunky stallions (the guys that is), and a daring plan that just has to succeed...
